There are two reasons writers are on Medium: To share thoughts and to make money. If your thoughts resonate with others enough, you can earn a pretty penny on this website.
For those starting out, it can be a tough hill to climb. You may get discouraged after typing your heart out for one clap. After being on this website for three years, I can testify that success is a marathon and not a race.
When I signed up for Medium, I didn’t know the benefits of publications. I didn’t understand the formatting, either. I just wrote what I felt.
I’m not rolling in residuals or well-known on this website — however — I do consider myself successful. I’ve achieved multiple top writer accolades and had a few articles do very well. I have a small following and barely write one article a month. Even still, I’ve gotten to a point where I earn residual income whether I write or not.
