I Once Fell

A poem

I once fell, refusing to get up
A hand reached out to me, offering to help me to my feet
A force dealt a blow so severe
I felt I could never rise again

I once fell, refusing to get up
A hand reached out to me, warning me to be careful next time
I think to myself, doubting, “could this hand be honest?”
How can someone be so caring?

I once fell, refusing to get up
A hand reached out to me, encouraging me to stand
I grab hold and rise to my feet. I’ve learned from previous falls
I stand in gratitude, for it was in a time of need
that someone was there for me

I once fell, refusing to get up
Now I stand, refusing to stay down
Extending my hand to others, retuning the love shown to me
For in a time of need, I will be there

We as humans can learn a lot from ants. Don’t be nice, be kind.
