A Countryside Dream

A poem

One day, I’ll call it quits
the lights, the camera, all that comes with it
a life away seems so appealing
longing for a newfound feeling

The countryside is calling me
those dirt roads I hope to know
acres of land I’ve yet to explore
residing where the cottontails grow

The city life is great for sure
but I was always meant for more
A chance to live, wild and free
like a bird singing in an orchard tree

Someday, I’ll leave it all behind
believe me, I’ve made up my mind
a new chapter in this life of mine
filled with miles of barley, hay, and twine

Fresh food, animals, and air
who could ever be bored?
nature that I took for granted
something I will do no more

Riding around in a UTV,
my kids, wife, and me
taking in the fresh cool breeze
living pollution-free

Have I painted the picture yet?
of what it’s like to feel free?
it’s what everyone wants in life, right?
being able to find their peace?

I find mine in the sunset skies,
the outstretched clouds give me hope
country life, here I come
I can’t wait to call you home

We as humans can learn a lot from ants. Don’t be nice, be kind.
